Holding the Hook
There are two common ways to hold a crochet hook.
The first is to hold the hook between your thumb and index finger like a pencil. (D18)
The second is to hold the hook in an overhand manner, like a knife. (D19)
There is no right or wrong way to hold a crochet hook. Try both methods and see which is most comfortable for you. Many crochet hooks have a "thumb rest" to help your grip.
